Scottish Smoke Salmon H Forman & Son

Smoked Salmon

Great looking pack, huge amount of effort and work in this, but the three types of cured salmon are described as Scotish Smoked Salmon. On the back, it clarifies that the salmon could be from countries other than Scotland. If this is the case, it’s not (in the eyes of the consumer) Scottish. Don’t use a country name in the product description if the main ingredient is not from that country.

Great packaging and product – just needs to be clearer about whether they are actually using Scottish Salmon all the time, or change their name to ‘Smoked Salmon’, not ‘Scottish Smoked Salmon.

  • I believe “Scottish salmon” is farmed salmon, unless marked wild. Probably no requirements for indicating “farmed” on the label, but there should be. As far as I know, farmed salmon is fed with GMO feed, so if you eat farmed fish, (or any other animal) you are eating GMO fed. Organic or wild are the labels to look for. Of course, even wild fish is now dangerous because of the mercury and other pollutants.

    oops, forgot to vote above.

Scottish = of or pertaining to Scotland. Add in all the other little visual cues on the label and there is no doubt that this is a product from Scotland. Oh, until you read the back that is, then you realise that the label is a straight forward, good, old-fashioned lie.
