Ghillie & Glen – Scottish smoked salmon
Posted in Fish by admin
Again, the labelling on the front of this product implies that the inside the packaging is Scottish salmon. However, the back of the packaging indentifies that the salmon inside the packet is in fact produced from Scottish OR Norwegian Atlantic salmon.

Sinner.. if it might not be scottish it shouldnt say it is..

I agree, If it might not be then dont try to make out it is

They’re putting the ‘con’ into consumer. Why can’t these producers just be up front about where the salmon comes from? It’s either Scottish or its not.

The product is excelent. Its a true brand. I have been buying it for years now and not found anything of similar quality for that price.
fallowfieldsuk says:
Scottish whisky is made with water from Norway right!!!!!

If it’s fished by Scottish Fishermen off the coast of Scotland close to an arbitrary line in the sea and Smoked in Scotland then it seems honest to me. If it’s fished by Norwegians through Norway it’s misleading.
I recommend looking at a map.
fingreen says:
There is nothing wrong with Scottish or Norwegian smoked Salmon, the fact is the salmon has been labelled as “Scottish Smoked Salmon” when in fact on the back of the packet it states that the salmon may be Scottish OR Norwegian salmon. If it might be Norwegian salmon then don’t label it as Scottish. It’s misleading.
Lis of the North says:
Just say honestly on the FRONT of the packet where the salmon was reared (or fished)!
Hazel says:
It says Scottish Smoked Salmon which means it was smoked in Scotland. If it said Smoked Scottish Salmon it would be misleading if it contained Norwegian salmon

Surely the provenance of this product is the style and geographical location where the process takes place as all farmed salmon is from the original Norwegian ancestor.
