I’m not sure why the cheap sausages are marketed as ‘Cumberland Sausages’. Why not just ’sausages’. Real Cumberland Sausages are quite distinctive – curled, not linked, more than 90% pork and with a peppery, spicy filling. I find it odd that people think it’s OK just to call any sausage cumberland, even without a PDO – it completely removes the original meaning. Like if carling started calling their lager IPA. It means that you can’t rely on the label to find out what you’re getting.

Style refers to the seasoning (Herbs & Spices) which is typical of an Irish Sausage. They are actually made in South London by Danish Crown who more than likely use Danish Pork. Yes they do taste awful.

had a premier slice (steak variety) filled a gap but not the whole gap! mostly pastry - think the meat filling must have been in the next one off the machine! someone else must of had a slice with plenty of filling. Have eaten peters pies etc for many a year and have always been very happy with the products.......but ..........not this time. had to say something!

dreadful pie hard pastry and no meat in the filling absolutely inedible.

This steak pie had very hard pastry and contained only gravy. it was tasteless and completely inedible

The copywriter has really used his purple prose on the packaging to say what a wonderful pie is inside, sadly this is not true - it is a bog standard affair. Just another 20 penceworth of meat might just turn it into something edible as the pastry isn't too bad. Why are all British commercial meat pies empty? Surely one manufacturer could seize the initiative by actually putting some MEAT in it!

Surely the provenance of this product is the style and geographical location where the process takes place as all farmed salmon is from the original Norwegian ancestor.

Why can't they just be honest? 50% sourced via Rainforest Alliance is better than none.
